Whenever I have a session with a student who doesn’t know what they want to do when they finish school, I talk to them about lots of things to help them see what their skills and interests are - for example, what subjects they like, what they enjoy about their part time work or extracurricular activities, and what other people ask them for help with. Over the years I’ve often left out a question, because it seemed really simple. I thought that if someone could answer this question, then they really did know what they wanted to do and wouldn’t be confused about it.
